India Telecoms Update - Jan'10

• Total telephony subs base reaches 581.8 Mn taking overall tele-density in India to 49.5%
• Wireless subscriptions reach 545.1 Mn
• 19.9 Mn additions in Jan
• Tata was the top grosser during the month with a 15% share of incremental adds followed by Bharti Airtel (14.3%) and Reliance (14%)
• Source of incremental adds - Metros (1.9 Mn), Cat. A circles (6.7 Mn), Cat. B circles (7.4 Mn), Cat. C circles (3.9 Mn)
• Bharti Airtel remains the largest wireless provider with 121.7 Mn subs, followed by Reliance (96.6 Mn) and Vodafone Essar (94.1 Mn)
• Wireline subscriptions decline marginally by 0.3 Mn to 36.8 Mn
• Broadband subscriptions up 0.2 Mn to 8 Mn
